ELWR Enrollment Hold

Nearing the ELWR deadline

Summer options for satisfying ELWR - Students who have not satisfied the ELWR by the end of their first year at UCSC may opt to:

If you would like your appeal packet to be reviewed:

  • Before Fall Quarter - submit by September 6
  • Before Winter Quarter - submit by December 12
  • Before Spring Quarter - submit by March 6
  • Before Summer Session - submit by June 1

Have an ELWR enrollment hold

You have not been barred from the University. Your enrollment is on hold until you satisfy the ELWR. Once you satisfy the ELWR, you will be able to enroll in classes once more.

If you have an ELWR enrollment hold you will need to submit an ELWR appeal packet of current coursework from a community college, or other current college writing or English course. This coursework must meet the appeals packet criteria.

The community college course alone will not satisfy ELWR and will not be transferable for credit. Only the submission of coursework from the class submitted in the packet will be reviewed - not the course grade or transcript.
