Make-Up AWPE for New Students

Those students from California high schools who have not satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) by April 1 must take the system-wide Analytical Writing Placement Examination (AWPE) on May 9, 2009, at one of the testing centers throughout the state. If you missed the exam on May 9, please visit our FAQ for Incoming Frosh page.

Students who have never taken the AWPE and who have not yet started classes in a degree program at UCSC will have the opportunity to take the make-up AWPE during UCSC's Welcome Week. A passing score (8 or above out of a possible 12) on the AWPE may be used to satisfy the Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) and a score of 10 will satisfy the C1 requirement.

Date: Sunday, September 20, 2009
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Please report to the location assigned to your college (see below). You do not need to sign up in advance for this exam. If you have never paid for the exam, we will provide you with an exam fee payment card and mail-in envelope.
